Because the colors repeat twice, there's enough of each to carry a solid background across a full two-page spread rather than running short after one page. Use a solid sheet behind a busier patterned page for contrast, or trim strips for mats and borders that let a boy-themed die cut stand out. The textured surface also gives a plain background a bit more visual interest than a flat matte cardstock would.
