You must do this for each layer your brand needs to go through. Once it is pulled through, it's super easy to separate the two prongs; these prongs hold the brad securely in place. What You Can Do with Crafting Brads

• Sand it - This gives the brad a nice rustic and vintage look. If it is a metal brad, then it will give off a dull and tainted look. If the brand is painted, then the metal underneath the color will show through with sanding.
• Ink it - If you have a metal brad, adding some fingernail polish to give it the exact color you want is easy. This is also a great way to use up the brads with colors you don’t want anymore.
• Add a rub-on - By applying a small rub-on to a metal brad, you can add a unique decoration while keeping your page uncluttered.
