Disney Princess Believing in Dreams Ideas

by Richelle NaegleBrave Cricut Scrapbook LayoutHave you had a chance yet to check out the new Disney Princess Believing in Dreams Cricut cartridge? It’s so awesome, I decided to make some fun scrapbook pages for little girls and I don’t even have girls! My favorite princess on this cartridge is Merida from Brave. I relate to her as I was definitely a tomboy and daring as a kid, always looking for an adventure. When you get to crafting with it, you will find it’s one of the best Cricut cartridges that Provo Craft has ever released.

For this layout, I used the Cricut Explore Air. I have used other Disney Cricut cartridges with the Cricut Expression and the Explore gives you a much better cut for all those tiny little pieces. I have also been using some standard cutting blades that I had and they were ripping the fine details, so I put a German Carbide Premium blade back in the machine and it seriously cut like butter. The regular blades work great in the Explore machine, but the premium blade gives you so much more.

So for the details of this layout, Merida is cut out at 9.5″ tall. Brave is cut out at 3″ in height and then into four 4.25″ x 6.25″ photo squares. The stars are from When I Was a Kid Cricut cartridge at 2.4″ tall. The picture frame paper is from the 12″ x 12″ Autumn Crisp Paper Pad, from our collection of American Crafts cardstock and the world background paper is from the You are Here Collection KitTangled Cricut Scrapbook Layout

It’s fun to create something girly for my scrapbook for once! I’m loving coming up with Disney Princess Belieiving in Dreams ideas with this cartridge. It’s inspiring!

So I created this fun layout with Rapunzel from Tangled. She is cut out at 6.25″ tall and Tangled is 2.75″ tall. I also used a Cuttlebug embossing folder to add dimension and detail to the Tangled sign, along with some flower embellishments and ribbon. I love how this layout turned out. I think it’s perfect for a little princess!

I hope you feel inspired to create scrapbook pages with this new Disney Cricut cartridge. If you make something with it share it with us on Instagram and tag us so we can see what you are creating. We carry a bunch of different brands from the American Crafts family, including: Studio Calico, Pink Paislee, and Pebbles.

Disney Frozen Cricut Cartridge Ideas

anna cardby Richelle Naegle

I know this cartridge has been long awaited, for those of us who prefer to work with physical cartridges vs using digital files. I figure they are the same price, but I want to have that physical cartridge so I can have a booklet (it makes it easy to see each of the cuts and to determine how to put the layers together). Disney Cricut cartridges have especially small cuts, so the booklet is a must have, in my opinion.

So I finally got my Disney Frozen cartridge< after waiting what felt like a very long time. I couldn't wait to use it, it was calling my name. 🙂 So I got right to designing multiple card projects. Just one card wouldn't do, in this case. I then got carried away and even made a layout for my scrapbook. Here are all the fun details for these three projects:

Frozen Card IdeasPabbie card from Cricut Frozen Cricut cartridge

The first card I wanted to make was with Elsa and I cut her out at 6.25″.  The phrase “A friend is someone who reaches for your hand, and touches your heart.” is from the Anna Griffin Garden Cards and Embellishments cartridge. I just had the Cricut Explore draw it on a 5″ x 7″ card. The second card has Pabbie on it. The phrase was also drawn on the card using the the Cricut Explore. The drawing is one of my favorite features of this machine, and even with these small intricate cuts you find in the Disney cartridges, you get precise cuts every time.

Expert Tip: If your cuts are not as crisp as they should be, try checking/changing your German carbide blade first. Thick, quality patterned scrapbook paper tends to dull blades quickly, and changing the blade can usually help. If that’s not the problem, I suggest you use a new StandardGrip 12×12 cutting mat. Sometimes on those small cuts it’s best to use a new one that is free of imperfections like paper fibers or small dents/cuts.

Frozen Scrapbook LayoutOlaf layout made with Frozen Cricut cartridge

This layout was a little more work than usual, but I absolutely love how it turned out so it was well worth the extra time. This extra time wasn’t spent gluing or designing it was spent letting the machine draw the snowflakes – so my tip for this one is to start it drawing and do something else, grab lunch, do the dishes clean the bathroom, etc. Or just relax, but just know that it’s going to take some time. So that’s where I started with this layout, is I wanted to use the Explore to draw the background on my paper. I used a white 12″ x 12″ sheet of cardstock and the Blue Bonnet pen from the Wildflower pen set and let my machine draw the snowflakes in the background. Tip: You will need to link the snowflakes together so that they stay where you lay them out on your page. I love using American Crafts cardstock for my projects. Try Pebbles or world-famous We R Memory Keepers paper.

Olaf is cut out at 7.5″ and “Always up for an adventure” was cut out at 2.5″ with 2 spots for 4″ x 6″ photo’s. This layout really was simple just a little time consuming. I really do love how it turned out, and I have so many more ideas of projects I can make with this cartridge including using the printable iron on sheets to make my own custom t-shirts. I hope you have enjoyed these Frozen Cricut cartridge ideas. I would love to see what you have created with this cartridge post a picture on our Google + paper crafting fanatics page or on Facebook.

Best of Pixar Cricut Cartridge Ideas

Pixar Cricut Cartridge Scrapbook Layoutby Richelle Naegle

Well, it’s time for another themed Cricut cartridge creation. With the summer quickly coming to an end my kids want to spend as much time as they can play at the pool.  Anything to make them happy, so we have been spending a couple nights a week at the pool (somewhat related, the countless water fights in the back yard). So I wanted to make a fun swimming page and that catchy song from Finding Nemo kept running through my head. Just keep Swimming, Just keep Swimming! So I was planning to do the fun little Nemo fish, but decided to go with Squirt the little turtle when I saw him. He is so darn cute so I changed my mind. I think this layout turned out swimmingly!

For this 12″ x 12″ Cricut layout I used the Disney Best of Pixar cartridge to cut out the turtles, the top one was cut out at 3″ and the bottom one in the corner was cardstock cut out at 4.25″.  The photo boxes are just 2 4″ x 4″ squares and the larger one is for a 4″ x 6″ photo, the waves are from the Cake Everyday Sampler Cartridge (really who would have thought these fun waves would come off a cake cartridge).  Anyway they were cut out at 1.25″ for the 4″ x 4″ squares and 2″ for the 4″ x 6″ one. You will need to trim them down just a little to make them the correct length. Just keep swimming is from the Four Legged Friends cartridge, if you don’t have this one though it’s not a very common one to have you could just make the letters using your favorite font cartridge.

Cricut Disney Classics Layout Project

By Richelle NaegleCricut Disney Classics Layout ProjectAre you ready to get busy with scrapbook supplies? I am! I have a bunch of pictures piling up and a scrapbook that is about two years behind. So I have some work to do before I get any further behind. 🙂 I made this layout for my boys, they just absolutely love to play outside in the rain. When most kids will come inside when it starts to rain mine grab umbrellas and my rain boots and out they go to splash in the puddles. So I saw this Jiminy Cricket shape with his umbrella and it reminded me of them, thus I had to make a layout with him on it for one of their rain pictures!

Remember that your project can be compromised if your machine is in need of fresh Cricut cutting pads or a new, replacement Explore blade. Get stocked up right here at CraftDirect.

Getting Started

Jiminey Cricket Disney Classic Cartridge Here are all the details of how to make this fun Cricut Disney Classics cartridge layout project. Mr. Jiminy Cricket was cut out with all this little layers at 7″ If you have used this or any of the other Disney Cartridges then you know some of these pieces get really small even cutting him out of craft cardstock at 7″. I used the Cricut Explore Air for with this project and ALL of the little parts  cut out really well I didn’t have to fix or re-cut or draw on any of his little parts. The Explore really does a great job with intricate and small cuts.

The rest of the layout is cut out as follows;  the umbrella are also cut out from the Disney Classics cartridge at 5″ and the boots are from Nate’s ABCs at 3″. Rain is from Sesame Street Seasons at  2.4″ “Let It” is from one of the fonts on my computer called Felt Marker. (But you could use any font you have on a Cricut cartridge or your computer if you have the Cricut Explore). I welded the two together so that it was just one saying. This is super easy to do using any of the Circut software or your Gypsy.

The photo boxes are (3) 4″x 6″ photos as well as (3) 3″ x  3″ photos. Giving me lots of places to add fun pictures or even  journal in one of the squares.

Remember, your projects will go more smoothly if you have up to date Cricut accessories.

Winnie the Pooh Cricut Ideas

by Richelle Naegle

Cute as a Button Winnie the Pooh LayoutMy good friend is having a baby in a couple of weeks, so I wanted to make her a cute little layout for her scrapbook, to welcome her new little girl. Using cardstock and the Disney Winnie the Pooh Font Cartridge (which has some very cute baby Disney characters). I cut the piglet out at 7” cutting these characters out large works really well so you don’t have a bunch of tiny little pieces to try and put to put together, as some of the Disney characters are on some of the other Disney cartridges.

The “Cute as a button” is from The First Few Years Cricut Cartridge. It was cut out at 3.5” I love the phrases on this cartridge it has great sayings as well as a shadow feature for the phrases.

The butterfly was cut out from the Hannah Montana Cricut Cartridge at 1.25” and then I added some Tim Holtz Distress Stickles in Rock Candy to give the butterfly a little big of sparkle.

Do you have any Winnie the Pooh Cricut ideas that you have made? Share them with us on our Facebook page, or on our Paper Crafting Fanatics Google + page. I would love to see what you have created! Obviously this scrapbook layout is more geared towards a girl, so if you have one that you made for a boy, that would be especially swell.
