Exclusive PhotoPlay Scrapbook Bundles

photoplay logo by Richelle Naegle

Every once in awhile I run across a product that I just fall in love with immediately. Well, I fell in love with pretty much the entire product collection by PhotoPlay. I’m not sure how long they have been around, but I don’t think it’s been very long; I just found them recently. The collection that I saw first was O’ Canada by Becky Fleck. The moose and the other adorable animals made me take a second look and research to find out where I could get this collection. I soon found that I loved all their paper collections and I thought our customers would love them too! To make it easy to get the entire collection we have made exclusive PhotoPlay scrapbook bundles for each of the collections we carry. Most bundles will include a 12″ x 12″ Collection Pack, a set of die cuts, a stamp set, and a die set. Sometimes the bundles have different products, it just depends on what is released with each set. The bundles offer you a convenient shopping solution and a better price!

close up view of paper American flag project completedHello! Christi Here from Scrapping For Tranquility. Do you believe it is already well into June already? The kids are out of school and the warmer weather is here. Most families are planning on taking their vacations and the 4th of July is right around the corner.

I don’t know about you, but it has me thinking about our annual 4th of July parade and family BBQ. And don’t forget about the fireworks that night. Our parade is so big in our small town in Indiana that they actually declare us the Capital of Indiana for the day. When I got to thinking of this upcoming holiday, the crafter in me started thinking of of all the decorations I could make. When I saw this download, I knew I had to make it right away. Memorial Day Cricut Cartridge Ideas

by Richelle Naegle memorial day card made with cricut everyday fonts

With memorial day this weekend, you may be looking for a couple last minute card ideas. So I made some quick cards that you could easily serve your purposes. I’ll show you how I made them.

For this first card (on the right), I used the Big Day font from the Everyday Fonts Cricut cartridge. The overall size of this card is 3″ x 7″ and the font varies in size from 0.5″ to about 1.0″. In the Design Studio I attached the words to a 3″ x 7″ rectangle and it cut them out of the red colored cardstock and I laid it over white cardstock. I did this to avoid having to glue all the individual letters to my project surface. It also helped to keep all the letters lined up perfectly and evenly spaced.

This is all very easy to do if you are using the Cricut Explore Air machine and the Cricut Design Space. You will just need to select all the objects you want together. So in this case, the words and the rectangle. Then you simply right click and select “attach”. Be aware that once you do this, you can’t change your text unless you detach your objects.

After that, I used a little bit of ribbon, and a star embellishment that I had laying around. That’s it for the first Memorial Day card.memorial day card made with cricut summer celebrations

For this second card, I used the Summer Celebrations Cricut cartridge for the eagle shape and the Calligraphy Collection Cricut cartridge for the font. I used the Black Cricut 0.25 pen with the Explore Air’s draw feature to write on the card.

I would love to see some of your Memorial Day Cricut cartridge ideas that you have had. Please share them with me on our Facebook page.

Save on some of the best material, like American Crafts cardstock. They offer you all kinds of options from different designers that are part of their family of brands, like We R paper, Crate Paper cardstock, and more.

4th of July Cricut Cartridge Ideas

by Richelle Naegle
4th of july layout
It’s that time of year again! Your days will soon be filled with BBQs and picnics, parades, fireworks, and of course family! So today, to follow that theme, I have created a fun and easy scrapbook layout. As always, I set out to make it detailed, without spending too much time on the project. Like many, I take way too many pictures to create extravagant scrapbook layouts for every page of the album. That doesn’t mean they can’t look really nice. So I came up with this layout, and it would be super easy to add a second 12 x 12 page to this layout and have it match.

You need the right scrapbook material. The right patterned cardstock will make all the difference. The first thing I did was grab the Freedom paper pack by the artists at Bazzill. This stack has 22 sheets of paper. 12 of them are double-sided printed paper and the others are bright and bold colors of red and blue with some white as well. Everything you need to create lots of 4th of July themed layouts. I used the Phrases Cricut cartridge for the 4th of July (it was cut out at 4.75″) and the Independence Day Cricut cartridge for the Flag banner (cut out at 1.25″) and for the stars I just used the star basic shape (and cut them out at 1″). The layout includes three 3″ x 5″  photo slots. The whole layout look about 45 min including the time to design and glue.

Do you have any 4th of July Cricut cartridge ideas that you have come up with? I would love to see them post them on our paper crafting fanatics page so we can all be inspired by you this year. Be sure to keep your Explore machine up to date with new replacement Cricut blades and fresh cutting mats.

DIY Marquee Letters Project: USA with Marquee Love

by Richelle Naegle
USA marquee loveEver since the Marquee Love collection was released, I have been dying to try a project. I just haven’t had time! For one think it was hard to choose which project to do first. And to be honest, after making this one, I have added a few more to the list. The ideas were flooding in. 🙂 Almost this entire project is made with Heidi Swapp products

CraftDirect.com has made recreating this project easy and affordable with our exclusive Marquee Love USA bundle. The only items I used that are not included in the bundle are the blue spray paint and the little piece of ribbon I used. Oh and the batteries: you will need 8 AAA batteries to light up your project. Everything else is included in this kit. You won’t use all the craft glitter, glue, and washi tape, so use it on your next project, too.

USA Project Details – Marquee Love

So let’s get started I will tell you everything I learned from making this project, in hope that it will make it easier for you to create. I started out by spray painting the star and the “S”. These are made of a poster board type material, so they soaked up the paint! Be prepared to put on a few coats. I put three on them, and you can do the backs, but it’s really not necessary. Marquee Love Letter U

For the glitter letters I did the “U” with the Chunky Red Glitter. I used the Marquee Love glue and I found that you should apply a liberal coat of glue to the letters. Where the glue was thin, so was the glitter. I like it more glittery so make sure you use the glue. I would also start on the outside of the inside of the letter. I started on the inside and it made doing that middle harder. And then of course do the outside edge last it’s where you are touching and holding.

This project takes a lot of drying time patience. So it works well that you have to paint and glitter because you can alternate between the two of them giving them some time to dry in-between.

After your paint has dried completely, you can apply the washi tape.Star with Red Glitter Washi Tape I used the 7/8″ Red Glitter Washi for the inside of the star. This tape width is perfect for the inside of any of the letters it’s made to fit perfectly on the inside of the letters. S with red stripped Washi tapeThe 2″ washi tape is made to fit perfectly on the outside of the letter. I used the red and white striped washi tape for the outside of the “S”. The trick to applying the washi tape is to go slow and be patient with it. It’s a little difficult to get into the corners and around the letters. I watched a video and she cut it into smaller strips, which seemed to work well for her. It didn’t work well for me. I found it easier to leave it on the roll, unroll quite a bit of it and just slowly work it around the corners and curves. Try it one way and if that doesn’t work for you, try it the other way, but just be patient and go slow.

Each letter comes with their own bulbs and covers and they were super easy to pop into place. Each letter also has its own pattern for how to put the lights in, so make sure you keep that at least until you get the lights placed. But that’s really it, this project did take some time I think about 3 hours to do, and extra time for drying as well. But I think that it turned out so cute that it’s well worth the time to make these projects.

Have you made a Marquee Love Project yet? I would love to see yours or if you buy this kit, send me a picture of what you created. I can’t wait to see everything you have made. Post it on our Google+ Paper Crafting Fanatics Page or even on Facebook. Save on our huge selection of Marquee Love Letters. Clothes Pin Wreath for 4th of July

4th of july decor, wreathby Richelle Naegle

I hope you are all enjoying your 4th of July weekend. Last night I got together with a bunch of my friends and we made an Independence Day craft. While it’s not necessarily a paper craft, I thought it was too cute and easy not to share with all of you.

Though this one is red white and blue, I can think of so many other color combinations to make that would make them super cute, such as if you did yellow and orange and put the orange on the outside and yellow on the inside you would have a sunshine effect, that you could use all summer.

Or you could paint them different shades of blue and or even white and put some Ranger stickles glue on them like snowflakes (Ranger is made by Tim Holtz), you would have a fun winter wreath. Wreaths make for great holiday home decor.

So to get started we used boxes and cut the flaps off and just fit all the paper clips around the edges. This way when you spay paint them you can easily get all of the sides. I would make sure you have a different box for each color. And you will want to make sure you paint the wreath as well. We did ours red, but you could do what ever color you wanted, just make sure the original color is obscured.

Paper clips spray painted

Spray paint the Wreath wire red white or blue. We did ours red

Then you simply alternate until you go all the way around the wreath. We did 10 blue ones all in a bunch and then alternated 5 red and 5 white until we went all the way around the wire.

We then added some wood stars to the blue. Super easy and besides waiting for the spray paint to dry it was super fast. Our suggestion to you while your making this with your friends is have some snacks and visit while the paint dries 🙂almost done with wreath

Did you make some fun Independence Day crafts? Share them on the Paper Crafting Fanatics page, or leave me a link to your blog here so I can see what you have made.

I hope you have a great 4th with your family and friends I’m off to enjoy the parade and my family. Hopefully you enjoyed my clothes pin wreath for 4th of July. Be sure to stock up on craft tools, that will surely make your project go better.
