Mother’s Day 2017 Craft Project Ideas

Today I’m going to cover a few fun cards you can make for your special Mom. Some are super easy and some are more involved. Hopefully you have as much fun with your Mother’s Day 2017 craft project ideas as I did.

Let’s start with the intricate project first. This is a fun rectangular pop out card and I made it using The Cricut Explore Air 2 and one of our free SVG files. In case you don’t know, our in-house artist Aaron Meyers designs these and he creates a few new ones every month, available for free download. Also, there is an exclusive download every month, only available on the confirmation page after you make a purchase. Be sure to check back every month to see what’s new.

This is called Mom Fox Hug Card and if you scroll to the bottom of this post you will see a link that will take you to the .svg file so you can download it. In order to see the link, you need to be reading the actual post and not the summary in the blog feed. I used one of Lori Whitlock’s designs from the Silhouette Studio Library for the background of the card.

Here are the other two cards I made. My goal was to keep it easy because that other one was a decent amount of work. Whenever I want to simplify things, I go with a Simple Stories paper collection.completed mother's day card ideas

These two cards are both from the Mom Collection Kit. I cut them out using my favorite American Crafts paper trimmer from American Crafts and then I attached them to a matching background (the kits make it easy; all the pages coordinate with the theme and stickers). Then use a folded sheet of paper to create your card base and use your favorite adhesive to attach everything together. I made these cards with the leftover material from my layout project:

Cricut Mother’s Day Layout

If you don’t have all these, you can probably find suitable substitute images from the cartridges that you already own. For example, the flowers can be replaced. There are so many cartridges with flower designs.

For the base of the page, I used the Edge to Edge Cricut cartridge. I just made it as large as it would go, so it’s about 11.5″ x 11.5″. If you wanted to, you could mount it on a 12″ x 12″ sheet of paper for a perfect fit in your scrapbook or just leave it with a scalloped edge.

I used some pink ribbon and weaved it through the holes. Then tied it in a bow at the top. The flowers are from Nifty Fifties Cricut cartridge, except the long flower is from Stretch Your Imagination. You’re a Great Mom is from the Floral Embellished Cricut cartridge.

Happy Mother’s day and happy creating!

I love the pop out card! I haven’t been able to find the file for the fun rectangular pop out card. Where do I find it?
