  3. Travel Journal Ideas

by Richelle Naeglefront view of Heidi Swapp Journal Studio Stripe Journal Kit This year, I decided that I needed to keep a diary, but I've never been much of a journal person. Recently, we've brought in lots of cute travel journals, and that's kind of where my inspiration came from. I got a lot of travel journal ideas from just looking at the products. I think the hardest part of the whole process for getting started was deciding which journal I wanted to use. There are so many options to choose from, from great companies like Simple Stories, Heidi Swapp, Crate Paper, and Webster's Pages. I started by considering what is the functional difference between them? What makes one better than another? And what's the difference between a planner, a travelers journal, and Journal Studio? Shop our discount planners and travel journals So, here is what I figured out. Planners have dated calendars. I have seen recently that some people use them to track memories. Instead of using it as a to-do list calendar they are using them as a done list. I think it's a super great idea, but wasn't quite what I was looking for. With regard to travel journals (also referred to as pocket travelers) vs. Journal Studio, I couldn't really find a difference. They are the same size, and the inserts are similar. In fact, they come with one that is blank and one with either lines or grids printed on them. The components are pretty interchangeable. So when choosing your planner and inserts, I suggest picking the ones that make you happy based on taste. Most Popular Travel Journals Here are some of our best sellers. They're hard to keep in stock, for good reason! 4. Valentine Paper Crafts 2019 - Squirrel Valentine Card & Raccoon Layout

i love you valentine's card projectby Richelle Naegle Today, I made a couple quick Valentine's Day crafts using the Silhouette CAMEO 3. You can download the images you see here from the Silhouette Studio. If you want to save some money in the process, buy one of our download cards here at a discounted rate. This first image from my card project is called Woodland Love Squirrel Valentines. She is cut out at 4" tall, making her perfect for a 4" x 6" card. The Pebbles Loves Me collection would work perfectly for this card (and the scrapbook page that I made, as well). Raccoon Valentine Layout Naturally, I followed the card up with a Valentine-themed scrapbook layout. The featured photo frame is 5" x 7". I normally only take one picture for Valentine's Day each year, but if you want two photos, swap out my frame for a couple 4" x 6" frames. This adorable raccoon, once again, came from the Silhouette Studio. It's called Woodland Love Raccoon Valentines. I made him about 5" tall, and the word "Love" is from Love Dog w/ Balloon, but I left the dog out. I love the font from that design. Continue reading →
  5. Harry Potter-Themed Party Decor

9-3/4 platform party decor projectDid you know that CraftDirect is an international company? Chi Lozano is one of our employees in the Philippines, and she happens to be a savvy paper crafter. She used her electronic die-cutting machine to make a Harry Potter-themed birthday party for her 1-year old son. When she showed us her work, we loved it so much we asked her to take our readers on this adventure. Enjoy: Welcome to Hogwarts This Harry Potter inspired party-themed celebration is nothing short of magical. And there’s no better way to send your guests off to the wizarding world than by escorting them onto the platform 9 ¾ platform to the Hogwarts Express! As the guests entered the Great Hall (aka our living room), banners from Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, and Ravenclaw houses swayed as the cold wind filled up the room. Continue reading →
  6. Halloween Craft Projects 2018: Layouts, Cards, Treat Bags, etc.

layout made using simple stories happy halloweenby Richelle Naegle It's October and now I feel like I can officially start creating for Halloween, and I love to make spooky and cute crafts. This year I think I got a little carried away with the scrapbook layouts! There are just too many fun Halloween paper collections to choose from this year. I couldn't decide which one I wanted to get, so I think I got them all, including: Simple Vintage Halloween Pumpkin Party Spooky Boo Trick or Treat and more! This first scrapbook layout was not created using any of those product lines, I actually went with the Simple Stories Happy Halloween Collection Kit. This is a perfect solution if you just want to make a couple pages (or a bunch of cards). It came with a sheet of SN@P Cards that are easy to add as an embellishment to your scrapbook pages. wicked cute layout made from SVD download This next layout I made is a design you can download for free (check out the October downloads post here). The paper collection I used is called Hocus Pocus, designed by Echo ParkI absolutely love this layout that Aaron designed. I had to make it, and it was so easy with the collection kit! 7. Exclusive PhotoPlay Scrapbook Bundles

photoplay logo by Richelle Naegle Every once in awhile I run across a product that I just fall in love with immediately. Well, I fell in love with pretty much the entire product collection by PhotoPlay. I'm not sure how long they have been around, but I don't think it's been very long; I just found them recently. The collection that I saw first was O' Canada by Becky Fleck. The moose and the other adorable animals made me take a second look and research to find out where I could get this collection. I soon found that I loved all their paper collections and I thought our customers would love them too! To make it easy to get the entire collection we have made exclusive PhotoPlay scrapbook bundles for each of the collections we carry. Most bundles will include a 12" x 12" Collection Pack, a set of die cuts, a stamp set, and a die set. Sometimes the bundles have different products, it just depends on what is released with each set. The bundles offer you a convenient shopping solution and a better price! Continue reading →
  8. New Happy Jig by We R Memory Keepers

by Richelle Naegle Have you seen the NEW Happy Jig collection from We R Memory Keepers in action, yet? If not, you need to get on that, ASAP. When I was at the CHA show this year, the Happy Jig was quite possibly my favorite new tool. The way it works is you use the wire-bending tool kit to bend wire with the use of a pegboard to make into fun and interesting designs. The kit comes with various sized pegs, a base that has a bunch of little holes in it, wire crimps, a booklet with designs, and three lengths of wire to get you started. I highly recommend picking up a few more colors of wire or try the multi-packs, like Colored and Neutral. These designs are addictive to make, so you're going to want plenty of wire! 9. Mini Halloween Things Projects - Tim Holtz 2017

cards made with Mini Halloween Things Thinlits diesby Richelle Naegle I'm sure you have seen my posts for the New Tim Holtz Halloween Dies. 2017 Sizzix Halloween Dies is a great year for Halloween Dies!! Oh my, these are all so amazing!  Okay, so I finally got my hands on a couple of them, because they are literally flying off the shelves. I would highly recommend pre-ordering them if you want them, they seem to go out of stock as soon as they arrive. The reason I decided to make Mini Halloween Things projects is I think this may be my favorite die set from 2017, I love the Mini Halloween Things Thinlits. They are perfect for making fun little cards to go with treats, or create quick tags, or add an embellishment to a photo frame. If you are like me and you enjoy giving away treats to friends around Halloween, you can add a quick note with a fun die-cut piece using this die set. and want to add a cute little note to them these would make a perfect embellishment to a gift tag. 10. Tim Holtz Halloween Release & Project

completed tim holtz crazy dog halloween cardby Richelle Naegle With October 31st still a few months away, Tim Holtz has been working hard on new designs. The new Tim Holtz Halloween release has inspired me to craft, the only problem is his new line isn't quite in stock yet. I had to get creative and use some of my favorite dies that I already have. The Tim Holtz Crazy Dogs and Crazy Cats are among the funniest designs in his entire portfolio, and when you combine them with the Crazy Things, you can really dress the dogs and cats up to match the occasion at hand. The overall size of this card is 3" x 3". I used the Mini Crazy Cats & Dogs dies & stamps bundle to make the dog, and then I used the Crazy Things die and stamps bundle for the witch's hat and broom. The stamps work very well with these dies because they make it so easy to have all the fun details of the dog without having to draw them on. Continue reading →
