  1. May 2018 Free SVG Designs: Summer Icons SVG's, Cinco de Mayo SVG's

We're getting an early start on May because we want to give you enough time to make Cinco de Mayo projects (more on those in a minute. Our free May design downloads are really fun this year. Aaron Meyers is our designer and got really creative this month. You can download (1) summer-themed icons file, (1) Mother's Day-themed print, and (2) Cinco de Mayo-themed party prop files. Richelle was so excited about the Cinco de Mayo project, she already made all the props (pictured). If you have never used an SVG file, then you should know that they work with electronic cutting machines, like the Explore Air 2 and the CAMEO 3. All you have to do is upload the file, load your paper, and watch the machine do all the work cutting it (or drawing, scoring, etc.). Here are the designs (scroll to the bottom of the post to see the download links): Continue reading
  2. New Happy Jig by We R Memory Keepers

by Richelle Naegle Have you seen the NEW Happy Jig collection from We R Memory Keepers in action, yet? If not, you need to get on that, ASAP. When I was at the CHA show this year, the Happy Jig was quite possibly my favorite new tool. The way it works is you use the wire-bending tool kit  to bend wire with the use of a peg board to make into fun and interesting designs. The kit comes with various sized pegs, a base that has a bunch of little holes in it, wire crimps, a booklet with designs, and three lengths of wire to get you started. I highly recommend picking up a few more colors of wire or try the multi-packs, like Colored and Neutral. These designs are addictive to make, so you're going to want plenty of wire! Continue reading
  3. April 2018 Free SVG Designs: Snapchat Hot Dog SVG, Grad Card SVG's

Usually, April would be the time where we drop Easter projects on you, but 2018 was an odd year in the sense that Easter fell on the last Sunday in March. That means we had to get creative with our free April 2018 SVG design downloads. Do you remember the dancing hot dog meme that was all the rage for about 4 weeks last year on Snapchat? We thought it would be fun to add that as a layered image to scrapbook layouts, so Aaron made (1) meme icon and (2) graduation cards. The trick to crafting with these SVG files is you need an electronic cutting machine, like the Cricut Explore Air and Silhouette machines. These sophisticated craft machines do all the work for you. There are 3 quick steps: Download the file at the bottom of this post, then upload it to your machine with your colored cardstock, and watch it do all the cutting. Continue reading

Some are new and some are just new to us, but nonetheless, we are super excited about all the new product lines we have been adding to our inventory! Spellbinders We will start with Spellbinders. We know many of our customers love Sizzix dies, so we decided it was time to bring in more options from some of these great collections, such as Flower Garden by Sharyn Sowell. This collection features intricately cut dies so you can adorn your cards with blossoming paper flowers. Some of our other collections include Sew Sweet by Tammy Tutterow and Elegant 3D Vignettes, which features 3D cards that have multiple beautiful layers. It works like this: You use the SVG image files with an electronic cutting machine to cut your material (colored cardstock, vinyl, etc.) to make these fun designs. To download each file, all you have to do is scroll to the bottom of this post and click on the links. You will need to adhere the cardstock to the bag, and we suggest using double-sided tape. Your kids, friends, and relatives will love this as an Easter gift. Continue reading

by Richelle Naegle Last month was the CHA 2018 show (which is now called Creativation), and this year there are a lot of great new products coming out! I can't wait for you see them all. If you are like me, you spend a lot of time spending your scrapbooking time on projects about your kids. We are so busy with all the activities they do, and the only time you show up in the scrapbook is when someone else takes the camera at a family vacation or event, and then you're in the picture for once. Above is a scrapbook layout I quickly created using I am... Now, all I need are a couple pictures of me. This collection gives you the chance to add more of you to your projects! Continue reading

  8. Valentine's 2018 Paper Craft Projects

by Richelle Naegle Valentine's, or as I like to call it, the big heart day, is almost here. One of my new year's resolutions is to stop being a papercraft slacker! This year, I am going to get my holiday crafts done early, starting with my Valentine's paper craft projects. If you need some help meeting your goals, whether they are related to crafts or not, you should download our free SVG files. Valentine's Greeting Cards For this first card, I used my Silhouette CAMEO 3. The overall size of the card is 4.25" x 5.5", and I found the cute puppy at the Silhouette Store. The design is called Love Dog w/ Balloon. I cut the image out at about 3.5" tall, from the bottom of LOVE to the top of the heart balloon. Continue reading

  10. Sweet Sugarbelle Project: Cactus Cookie Cutters Set

At CraftDirect, we've wanted to do a Sweet Sugarbelle cookie cutter project for quite some time, so I took the opportunity this Christmas break. I visited my nieces (ages 13 and 9) and nephew (age 4) in Georgia where it was bitter cold and gray, the type of weather that is perfect for cookie baking. Everyone was happy to participate, and we all had fun. The great thing about Sweet Sugarbelle cookie cutters is their products make it easy to create intricate sugar cookie designs using stencils and other helpful accessories. Getting Started Because I'm from Arizona, I thought the kids would like to get a little taste of the desert, so I selected the Cactus Cookie Cutter Set. It includes two cookie cutters, two templates, and two instruction cards. In addition to that, we used Disposable Piping Bags and a few household utensils, like butter knives and spatulas. Since we've been selling Sweet Sugarbelle, I've wondered what the templates look like. It turns out they are made of thin, clear plastic. You punch out the shapes to get the positive and the negative stencil: Continue reading
