April 2017 – Free Monthly Design Downloads

For April, we have a few fun new designs by Aaron Meyers. April showers bring May flowers, and while you’re inside this rainy season, maybe kill some time by doing a few of our free .SVG designs. These designs will work with your favorite electronic cutting machine. In this installment, we have two very fun solutions for you: (1) complete Easter scrapbook layout and also a (1) die-cut motorcycle shape.

To get the designs, just scroll to the bottom of this post and click on the links (if you are in the blog feed, you will not see the download links until after you click on the blog post title). Upload the designs to your CAMEO 3 or Cricut Explore Air and let the machine do the cutting for you. You can save on all the craft material for your project here, whether you need patterned paper or poster board.

This is called the Easter Surprise Scrapbook Layout 2017. It includes two bunnies, two chicks, Easter eggs, and plenty of other fun details that will make your layout project stand out. Even if you don’t scrapbook, you can use the bunnies and chicks in a variety of projects, particularly decorative ones. They would be the perfect addition to photo frames.

We’re trying new things with these designs and with summer just around the corner, we have a design for motorcycle enthusiasts:

Simple Stories Sports Scrapbook Collection Kits

by Richelle Naegle

The new Simple Stories sports collection kits are perfect if you are trying to create a scrapbook layout for your favorite little athlete! Simple Stories is well known for offering scrapbookers the best kinds of solutions. There is a collection kit for just about every sport and they make it super easy to throw together quick projects. I used different colors of Premium Cardstock by Core’dinations to add photo boards and an occasional die cut, but for the most part, everything (the stickers and cardstock) came from the collection kits. A lot of their new releases are Sports themed paper packs. You can find all the collection kits on our Simple Stories paper page.

The above image is a design made from the Baseball Collection Kit. Each set comes with 6 sheets of patterned cardstock. Obviously, I only used 2 of them. There are 4 more 12″ x 12″ pages that can be made, or you can cut them up to make photo pockets and other additions. Continue reading “Simple Stories Sports Scrapbook Collection Kits” »

St. Patrick’s Day Crafts 2017 – Layout & Card Ideas

Elmo St. Patrick's Day Card Ideaby Richelle Naegle

Today is your lucky day; in this post, you get not one, but three St. Patrick’s Day projects! Sorry, I know St. Patty’s is just a couple days away, but I’m just barely getting to around to making these. But better late than never, I always say. So today, we are going to start out with this fun card I made using the Sesame Street Celebrations Cricut cartridge. It features all your favorite Sesame Street characters in designs that are great solutions for a variety of holidays. The card I chose features Elmo, my favorite Sesame Street character. This card ended up being 6″ x 6″ and Elmo was cut out at 6″ with my Cricut Explore Air 2.

The second card I made is one of Aaron’s designs that we offered with our March 2017 downloads as part of our huge library of free .SVG Downloads. When I saw this card, I was immediately in love with it. I used my Silhouette CAMEO 3 to cut this card out at 4″ x 6″. It was just 3 easy cuts and I love the results! Aaron Meyers has designed these two free .SVG downloadable files. Scroll to the bottom of the post to see the download links (you can’t see them if you are reading this in the blog feed).

You can use these .SVG files with your favorite electronic craft machines, like the Cricut Explore Air and the Silhouette America CAMEO 3. The file indicates to your cutting machine how to cut your patterned cardstock. It’s so easy to create amazing cards for free with CraftDirect.com. Just one of the many ways we love giving back to customers. Here are the cards:

Now, to wrap things up we thought it’d be fun to share a very popular Irish folk song, titled “Wild Rover”:

I’ve been a Wild Rover for many’s the Year
And I spend all my money on Whiskey and Beer
And now I’m returning with Gold in great store
And I never will play the Wild Rover no more

And it’s no, nay, never
no, nay, never no more
will I play the Wild Rover
no, never no more

I went into an alehouse I used to frequent
And I told my Landlady my Money was spent
I asked her for Credit She answered me nay
Such a Custom as yours I could have any day

And it’s no, nay, never
no, nay, never no more
will I play the Wild Rover
no, never no more

I took from my pocket ten Sovereigns bright
And the Landlady’s eyes opened up with delight
She said she had Whiskeys and Wines of the best
And the words that She tolt me were only in jest

And it’s no, nay, never
no, nay, never no more
will I play the Wild Rover
no, never no more

I went home to my Parents confest what I’d done
And I asked them to pardon their prodigal son
And when they’d caressed me as oft times before
I never will play the Wild Rover no more

And it’s no, nay, never
no, nay, never no more
will I play the Wild Rover
no, never no more
