Sizzix Village Surf Shack Project Ideas

by Richelle NaegleSizzix Village Surf Shack Tim Holz Valentine's project

After doing the Halloween Village Manor project, I was in love with this collection. I wanted to make a Christmas-themed house, but time got away from me and other holiday crafts and obligations got in the way! With Christmas just a few days away, I figured I would get a jump start on Valentine’s and make my Village Surf Shack project a romantic cabana. As you probably already know, I don’t need much of an excuse to make my projects pink.

Pro tip: just like with any project in this collection, you have to start with the Village Dwelling die. That is the foundation for every other die in the series.

The supplementary dies are what allow you to change the details of the dwelling. So in this case, we are using the Sizzix Village Surf Shack Bigz die, designed by the one and only Tim Holtz.

For the hearts, I used my Cricut Explore Air and cut them out at 0.5″. I think the dimensions turned out to be perfect for decorating the facade of the house, and the palm tree. To cut you material, as far as machines go, we recommend the Sizzix Big Shot to accommodate large Sizzix dies.

Have you used any of the Tim Holtz Village dies? If so, then you too know how fun it is to get creative with this paper crafting solution. I would love to be inspired by you, so please share your projects with me on our Facebook or Instagram page (Don’t forget to tag us @craft_direct).

Belly Box Reindeer Project – Lori Whitlock – Silhouette Design

by Richelle NaegleLori Whitlock Reindeer treat box

Are you ready for Christmas, yet? I’m definitely not. I still have so much to do, and one of my checklist items was to make a gift for my kids’ teachers, some neighbors and a few other people. I was inspired by Aaron’s free download Reindeer card and decided to apply that same idea in making a treat box. I made two of them and they are the perfect size for fitting cookies and other treats. If you give a gift card in a treat box, I like the way you can slip the card in, with the treats holding it up. It’s a nice, eye-catching effect.

This cute Belly Box Reindeer project is designed by Lori Whitlock, and you can get it at the Silhouette store. If you do purchase images from Silhouette, you can save quite a bit of money by getting one of our Silhouette digital download cards. I am usually patient and wait for them to have an image sale, and that way you can stretch the money even further.

Using the CAMEO 3, I cut the length, width, and height of the overall design at 3.5″ x 2.75″ x 6″ (from the top of the antlers to the bottom of the box). I added some fun faux stitching and since it is Rudolph, he needs a shiny red nose. I used Tim Holtz ice stickles in Christmas Red to make his nose. This was a pretty quick project and I loved the way it turned out. I highly recommend it.

If you are looking for other solutions for making treat boxes, check out the Sizzix Caddy Bag Bigz Pro die and the Box It Up Cricut cartridge.

I’m sure you have been creating fun Christmas cards and other holiday crafts this year. I would love to see what you have been making. Merry Everything Cricut Cartridge Ideas

by Richelle NaegleMerry Everything Cricut Cartridge Card Ideas

Provo Craft has recently released three new Cricut cartridges, including the Merry Everything Cricut cartridge. It’s great for Christmas cards and fun holiday decorating. This cartridge was designed by Rob & Bob who are famous for designing some real classics, like New Arrival, and Sweethearts. The second cartridge is Anna’s Lovely Layered Cards 2, which is the second edition of an all-time favorite. And lastly, we have the Heidi Swapp Font, Phrases & Icons Cricut cartridge. Believe it or not, this is Heidi Swapp‘s first Cricut cartridge! Hopefully we will see more from her.

I love Rob and Bob, so immediately I started thinking of Merry Everything Cricut cartridge ideas. I made four quick Christmas cards, all of them 4″ x 6″. It only took me a couple hours to finish this craft quartet. These are perfect for the busy Christmas season, but get going now or you will be too occupied for crafting.

Anna's lovely Layers 2 Cricut cartridge ideasWhen I was looking at all the adorable images on Anna’s Lovely Layered Cards cartridge, I found this beautiful ornaments Christmas card! I love how it turned out. This card is 6″ x 6″ and was a quick job. It’s only four simple layers that went fit together easily. Generally, Anna Griffin designs don’t contain a lot of difficult, little pieces.

Heidi Swapp's Phases Ideas

Last, I used Heidi Swapp Font, Phrases, & Icons cartridge. While you could use this cartridge to make fun scrapbook layouts, cards, home decor, and more, I like it’s applications with your day planner projects. It has a lot of useful phrases that are perfect for your daily organization! It has fun little phrases that I think would go perfect inside a the Memory Planner or Carpe Diem.

I made this fun t-shirt using black and pink Cricut Iron-On material. Creating your own shirts or other wearable items is super easy!
