I am pretty sure that’s how it goes in Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island.

I created these layouts using the Teddy Bear Parade Cricut cartridge, and while this cartridge has been around for a long time, it has just recently become available to us to sell. I love teddy bears and I have a fun pictures of my boys at a friend’s Birthday party where they are dressed up in pirate costumes. We have this adorable Imaginisce Par-r-ty Me Hearty, collection, which includes the Par-r-rty Me Hearty 12 x 12 stack I used in this layout project. It also comes in 6″ x 6″ paper, ideal for card-making and we carry fun stickers and charm shapes that coordinate with this paper stack.

I felt the need to add some dimension to this layout. I decided to use Silhouette Natural Faux Leather to cut out a treasure map and patterned cardstock for the background. To make it look more authentic, I wet the paper (it’s a big sheet, so I really had to soak it). Then I crumbled it up and laid it out to dry. That gave it the texture I was looking for. Then I added ink using Ranger Distress Ink Pads, adding it to the edges and even on some of the “hills of the paper”, to give it even more dimension.

The bear was cut out at 5.5″ tall from the Teddy Bear Parade Cricut cartridge and the Pirate Party phrase as well as the treasure map is from the Life’s a Party Cricut cartridge. Then I just layered everything on top! When I finished I really wanted to make a cute girl version, so I used the exact same idea with pink and it worked perfectly.

Pro tip: your cuts will be more precise if you have fresh Cricut cutting mats.

I would love for you to share your Teddy Bear Parade Cricut cartridge ideas on our Google+ page, so I can see all the fun layouts and cards you have created using this cartridge. We have a huge selection of Cricut cartridges and if you haven’t seen the Cricut Explore Air 2, you need to check it out!

We R Memory Keepers Punch Board Projects

by Richelle Naegleflowers created by envelope punch board

We R Memory Keepers has a great line of Punch Boards on the market right now. Some of the most popular ones that we carry are the Envelope punch board, the Gift Bag punch, as well as the Flower punch board and the Pinwheel punch board! And if you haven’t had a chance yet, you should definitely check out the Alphabet punch board! This punch board was just released in 2016 and it allows you to make every letter in the alphabet as well as numbers.

There are so many We R Memory Keepers punch board projects that you can do, but for this blog post we will focus on just two of them. Save on We R paper, which offers amazing designs on quality cardstock.

Flower Punch Board Projects

Today I am going to show you how easy it is to use the Flower punch board. With just a few easy steps you can create beautiful flowers in seconds.flower chart

  • First you will need to decide how big of a flower you want and how many layers you want to do. My largest one is 6″ in diameter and the smallest is 3″. (You can go all the way from 3″ to 22.5″ in diameter with this punch board)
  • Using the size chart printed on the board, you will need to cut your strips to the correct sizes for each flower. (see image to the left)
  • Then simply align the left side of your Scrapbook paper to the correct line and punch and score twice (once straight and once vertical) easy guide lines and score tool are included.
  • TIMG_1463hen just repeat that step until you have finished the entire sheet.
  • Fold all score lines using an accordion fold and glue together.
  • If you want to add some depth to your flowers you can use the including rounding tool and simply roll the paper around the tool. (I didn’t like how it looked when I inserted it into the slot) It made a funny crease in the paper so I just curled it around the tool.
  • Last you can use the We R Memory Keepers Flower Stems to complete a beautiful bouquet.

Pinwheel Punch Board ProjectsPinwheels

The second punch board we have is the Pinwheel punch board and this punch board is as much for kids as adults. While I was making these fun flowers, my eight year old son was making pinwheels (yep, that’s how easy these are to create). I showed him just once how to put the sticks together and cut them and he took it from there.

With these, you can either make a single pinwheel using one sheet of cardstock paper or a double pinwheel using two sheets. You will definitely want to get the pinwheel attachments from We R Memory Keepers. They are sold in packages of 12 and come in a variety of colors. This punch board allows you to make Pinwheels anywhere from from 3″ – 12″ in diameter .

Have you used any of the Punch Boards? Let me know which one is your favorite and please share some of your craft art you made with them on our Paper Crafting Fanatics Google+ Page. To You From Me Cricut Cartridge Ideas

by Richelle NaegleOwl Pillow box using the to you from me cricut cartridge

It’s been quite a while since Cricut has come out with a new cartridge. I am extremely excited about both of these latest releases. The first we will cover today, the To You From Me Cricut cartridge. Ideas started flowing as soon as I saw the designs and I put my Cricut Explore machine to work.

I was just as excited about this cartridge as I was when the All Occasions Box Card cartridge was released.

This cartridge features fun dimensional projects such as wallets, gift card holders, pillow boxes, bags, and boxes. You also get great phrases that are appropriate for a variety of occasions, such as birthdays, celebrations, and more!

For me the hardest part using this cartridge is deciding which project to make. I couldn’t pick just one, so I ended up picking three. If you’ve followed our blog for a while, then you know I have a huge love for owls and this cartridge has two different owls (so naturally I made both) and the wallet design also caught my eye.

owl EOS lip balm holder from the to you from me cricut cartridgeThis first project is an owl pillow box that you can stuff full of your favorite treats for party favors. I wanted to make this as large as I could, so I went with 12″ x 12″ patterned cardstock. When it’s completely folded, it is about 6.0″ tall and 5.5″ wide, which is a pretty good size box. Pro tipdon’t forget to use a quality adhesive on your boxes and bags, so they don’t fall apart after the slightest wear and tear.

My second project is the owl lip balm holder. This project is designed to fit Evolution of Smooth lip balm, and I love this brand of lip balms, so this one is for me!

I cut this guy out at a height of 3.25″.

The last project I made today was the Money wallet, and I wanted to make this something that you could actually use at least for a short term. So I cut the wallet out of Faux Leather. It’s sturdy and wont tear or rip easily. I cut it out as large as it would fit on a 12″ x 12″, which means you have about 11″ of length for storing receipts, bills, etc. within the wallet. In order to make it look more like a real leather wallet, I used the Cricut Medium Calligraphy marker that you get in the Cricut black pen set. The marker has a nice wide tip and made the stitches appear heavier.

I hope you have enjoyed these projects and if you use this cartridge, I would love to see what you create. Share them with my on our Facebook page! I can’t wait to see what you make. It’s a good idea to keep your supplies up to date so that you can ensure more precision in your projects. Save on Cricut mats and replacement Explore Air blades.
