July 2016 Free SVG Designs: Pool Party Card SVG, Calendar SVG’s

Here we are with July just around the corner and the summer is really heating up! If you are planning on having family get-togethers, or are wanting to host an event with friends for the 4th of July or Pioneer Day (it’s a big state holiday here in Utah where our company headquarters are), Aaron came up with (3) fun card solutions, and of course (1) July calendar design, and (2) calendar icons.

Remember these are free .svg downloads that you can use with your electronic electronic die cutting machines. The downloads are found at the bottom of the post. If you don’t see the download links it means you need to click on the blog post title so that you are no longer reading it in the feed. The links will then be accessible. Here are the free July designs:

This is called the Pool Party Invitation. All you have to do is choose your material, in this case you would go with colored scrapbook paper, and use your machine with the .SVG file to precisely cut your material for this design.

Ruler Studio Projects – We R Memory Keepers

by Richelle Naegleruler studio star

Back in January, when we went to the CHA Show we were introduced to this exciting new product line from We R Memory Keepers called called Ruler Studio. We all immediately fell in love with it.

After patiently waiting for months, we finally got the collection in stock and I quickly went to work. So I bought the Natural 6″ Rulers and the White 12″ Rulers. Along with that, I grabbed some of the fun accessories, like the Ruler Studio Lights, 2 different types of clips, frames, and the Glass Knobs.

The first one I made was this white star. The rulers are super easy to fold into whatever shape you want. They are on metal hinges and move nicely. One of my worries was that after I hung it on the wall, it would move and lose its shape, but I have had it up for over two weeks and it hasn’t moved at all. I think it’s pretty safe to say it’s going to maintain shape.

star design ruler studio with lightsTo start, I added the lights around it. Turned out, I didn’t like the big bulbs, so I took those off and I will save them for another Heidi Swapp project. They are the same ones that you can use for the Marquee Love collection, so I’m sure they will come in handy later. I Used some white string and clips to string together to give it the clothesline effect.

Then I finished it off with some pictures using the clips. I think it turned out super cute and looks better than if I had just used the plain, old frame.

This second one I made was quite a bit simpler, but just as cute! I folded it into a rectangular shape and used some of the picture frames and clips. Each of the frames took me less than an hour to make.ruler studio rectangle design project

So they go up super easy and quick and would be convenient to change if you got bored with them after a few months. Change the design to fit into your holiday decorations each month. You could make a wall of stars for the 4th of July, and hearts for Valentine’s or an anniversary, etc.

I hope you have enjoyed this fun new Ruler Studio product from We R Memory Keepers as much as I have. I can’t wait to see what you have created with them! Share them with me on our Facebook page!

Father’s Day Card-Making Projects

by Richelle Naeglefishing bag fathers day card

Father’s day is coming up this weekend and if you haven’t made your Father’s day cards yet, you still have a little bit of time, so why not try these fun Father’s day card-making projects that Dad is sure to love?

This first card (to the right) is from Lori Whitlock. You can find it in the the Silhouette Studio. It was only $0.99. If you buy one of our discounted download cards, you could save even more! I made this card using the Silhouette CAMEO. The card is 5″ wide by approximately 4″ tall It has little pockets on the inside that are perfect for holding a gift card to Dad’s favorite store – or you could even make little coupons to put inside.

For this card I wanted the silver to be really shiny so I used the Cricut Metallics Poster Board. This paper cuts super nice and it’s durable and heavy. I used foam adhesivesfor the pockets on the front to give it a little more dimension, as well as some brads to add that little something extra to this card.Fathers Day tool box card

This second card is a step-up-card from Lori Whitlock, which you can also purchase from the Silhouette Studio library. This card would be perfect for the Dad that is handy around the house (or at least tries to be). If you are looking for the perfect gift for Dad, you can find it at – they carry a great selection of tools at low prices.

This card was super easy to create and I also used foam adhesives on the drawers to make them look like they are open. I also used the Cricut Metallic paper to give the tools and the tool box that great shine! After finishing this card I wish I would have used some Cuttlebug folders for the drawers and the tools to give them a little more dimension, so emboss them if you like that idea.

Hope you have enjoyed these fun Father’s day cards. I would love to see your Father’s day cards you have made. Share them with me on our Google+ Paper Crafting Fanatics Page.

Remember that while you are here, take advantage of our great deals on craft supplies. Save on a new electronic cutting machine, patterned cardstock, and more. Happy creating!

How to Foil Your Vinyl Material (Infographic)

by Richelle Naegle

One day while searching Pinterest, I found a video that someone had made on the Heidi Swapp page where she used Silhouette permanent vinyl with her laminator machine to foil the vinyl, The purpose was so that she could adhere the design to a coffee mug. You can check out that video here.

We’ve made an infographic to explain the process so you know how to foil your vinyl material. I also offer my own handiwork below the infographic, so you can see how it works in action. Without further ado:

Watercolor Crafts & Art by erin the great

One of the most beautiful mediums in the visual arts is watercolor painting. It’s aptly named watercolor because of how the paint is made up of pigments that are suspended in a water-based solution.

Typically the paint is applied to paper surfaces, but it works with a number of other supports.

Here at, we have a variety of watercolor craft supplies that will help you harness the power of this lovely, yet challenging medium.

The trick with watercolor is that you must apply just the right amount of paint. If you apply too little, your artwork won’t be vibrant enough with color. If you over-soak the material, you will compromise the work.

Perfecting this skill can takes a lot of education and practice.

Today we are featuring an artist (erin the great – check her out at who has put many years into developing her talent through this painting medium. She graduated in fine art with a concentration on drawing and painting from the University of Tennessee. She is known for illustrating children’s books, as well as her gnome art and watercolor paintings that can be found all over Atlanta. She has even had watercolor artwork featured on Extreme Home Makeover.

Watercolor Craft Products

You probably don’t have time for all that education and practice and you just want to know about the products that can give your projects that watercolor effect. We have a few delightful options for making watercolor crafts easy:

For example, we have the Crafternoon Watercolor Art kit which has 3 stencil designs as well as watercolor paint. The designs include fun phrases and shapes. Check out the hot air balloon.
