Mini Monsters Cricut Cartridge Ideas

by Richelle Naeglebeware card from cricut min monsters

Do you need a little last minute Halloween inspiration? Here are a few really quick and easy to make Halloween cards that you could throw together as a last minute solution. For all these cards I used the Mini Monsters Cricut cartridge. Ideas for this cartridge are easy to come by because it’s got so many fun images.

This first card is 5″ x 7″  and the sea monster was cut out at 4.5″. I think he has to be my favorite monster on this cartridge! The Happy Halloween is drawn using the Cricut Explore Air. You can recreate any of these cards and make them your own by getting creative with the patterned cardstock you choose to use.

dracula card from cricut min monstersThis second card is 5″ x 5″ and Dracula was cut out at 5″ and Trick or Treat is from the Pumpkin Carvings cartridge and was drawn on at .80″ using the Explore draw feature. Have I mentioned before this is one of the best features of this machine? The potential to perfectly draw phrases is revolutionary, especially if you don’t have the best handwriting (that’s me).

ghoul card from cricut min monstersFinally, the Ghoul card! That’s one of my favorite words, but I didn’t name him. That’s how he’s labeled in Design Space. It was cut out at 4.55″ and Halloween is from the Holidays through the Year Iron-On cartridge at .61″

The Mini Monsters Cricut cartridge has a lot of fun Halloween images on it and is perfect if you need to create some fun or easy Halloween cards, scrapbook layouts, or even home decor projects. I know some of you have projects you have made with this great cartridge, share them with me on our Google + Paper Crafting Fanatics Page. Minc Halloween Projects: Party Decorations

by Richelle NaegleHalloween Decor minc projects

I am so ready for Halloween to be here! Last night we had a little crafting party and so I decided I would show off the MINC foil laminating system and the cool things that you can do with it. I came ready with my favorite MINC reactive foil and MINC accessories. You can’t go wrong with any of them, but I chose the:

  • Crate Paper After Dark stickers
  • Pebbles Boo treat Bags
  • Pebbles Boo Gallery Prints
  • Pebbles Boo Banners

When you incorporate themed Orange and Holographic foil, you get a brilliant finish to your designs like with this fun Halloween decor. Sorry for the photo quality: apparently foil does not photograph very well, particularly the holographic material. It kind of gives it a rainbow look.

bannerHere is a shot of the banner. I didn’t like the straight corners so I used a corner rounder to give them a little bit of a softer look.

The hit of the night was the treat bags, I’m pretty sure it was because there were treats in them, but these fun bags are large enough for a big cookie or quite a bit of treats. It’s perfect if you have a kids’ Birthday party coming up. You’ll have enough room to give them just enough goodies!

The MINC Gallery Prints are a lot of fun and a great decoration, I know we have some that are not holiday themed as well as some for Halloween and Christmas (which should be in very soon), these prints are a lot of fun, I just put them up on easels however you could also frame them or clip them on a clip board and you have a fun home decor project that shines.

I hope you enjoy all your Halloween parties and if you are hosting, think of incorporating foil in you decorating, and using the Heidi Swapp system to create amazing MINC Halloween projects. We have tons of Heidi Swapp Halloween products, including the Marquee Love kits (not foil-related).

I made all these fun decorations in about 30 minutes, so they are great even for last minute party decorations.

mint stamp machine bundle

Bundle on sale now!

by Richelle Naegle

If you remember, we introduced the Mint stamping system on our blog a few months back. Well, you will be glad to know that the machines have arrived! We are very excited. We’ve never carried much in terms of stamping supplies, but this machine is a game-changer.

Unfortunately the supplies and accessories that make up the Mint collection are still not available, but not to worry: the Mint custom stamp maker includes a starter kit with ink, stamp kits, etc. that will allow you to put your machine to work immediately. To sweeten the pot a bit, has bundled the machine and starter kit with a $25 gift card. Let’s get down to business:

How to Use the Silhouette Mint Machine:

Update: We now have 2 videos for you! This first video was made by us and is more of a demonstration of the stamp-making process:

This video, courtesy of Silhouette America, explains the system, the products, and then shows you how quick and easy it is to set up your machine. They also cover all the bells and whistles you get with the various features. Lastly, they demonstrate how to affix the stamp design to the stamp base.

As you can see it’s a pretty complicated system with lots of moving parts, but your role in the matter is rather simple. Just choose the design you want and let the machine do all the hard work.

How Does the Mint Stamp Making Machine Work?

The Silhouette stamper works using a process called thermal printing which will allow you to create 3D effects in your custom stamp designs. Also known as direct thermal printing, as a digital printing process, the printed image is produced by heating thermochromic paper.

Enhance Your Crafting with Stamping

With 18 different shades of ink, there is unbridled potential for unique and vibrant projects. Your creative stamps can be used to add the perfect embellishing touch to your homemade greeting cards and scrapbook layouts.

I will have plenty of projects to share with you soon enough. Please share yours with me. At CraftDirect, we have lots of different Silhouette accessories that will make your projects go better, like:

Remember, if this all seems like too much work to make your own stamps, then try buying these ready-made craft rubber stamps. Happy creating!

New FUSEables Collection Review & Video

by Richelle Naegle

I get so excited when NEW products are released. I find out about them months before they come out, so I have to endure weeks and weeks of anxious waiting. The FUSEables collection (check them out at our store) is one I have been super excited for. I saw it in action back in July, so it’s been a long time coming. I am a scrapbooker at heart and the new FUSEables products are going to take my scrapbooking to another level. We R Memory Keepers made this quick demo video:

What Are the New FUSE Accessories?

The new FUSE accessories include 4 different FUSE tips to enable 3 different patterns with your FUSE photo sleeve tool. Pro tip: be sure your FUSE has adequately heated up and go slow.4 new fuse tips These four tips include 2 new patterns (on the right of the image). The tip to the far left is simply for cutting slits in your photo sheets. The tip second from the left is a replacement tip for the tip that comes with your tool.

The other two tools that I as super excited about is a 12″ FUSE ruler and the ingenious FUSE mat with built in holster for the FUSE tool. As you well know, I love to scrapbook and this ruler allows me to do a whole 12″ width without tediously having to move my ruler. The mat is 12″ x 12″, which gives you plenty of space to work with, and the holster is such a great solution for temporarily storing your tool as you encounter tasks along the way that require both of your hands.

The rest of the new FUSEables products include:

  • Keepsake Pockets – a great solution for storing loose items in a scrapbook album.
  • Cards and envelopes sets – one set is designed by Jen Hadfield!
  • Full 12″ x 12″ FUSEable clear sheets – add them to your layout or card project. If you are making shaker cards, these are far superior to sheet protectors.
  • Plastic paper stacks – they come in both 12″ x 12″ plastic paper pads as well as 6″ x 6″ plastic paper pads.
  • Embellishments – cupcake toppers, ephemera (add these to the cards and envelopes kits), ruffle tape, fringe tape, etc.
  • Storage solutions – try the FUSE storage box with ideal dimensions for organizing your FUSEables and your tool.
  • Instax FUSEables sleeves – for avid photographers.

The FUSEables ruffle tape is my favorite embellishment in the collection. It reminds me of a fringe cut banner. You can easily use this to just add a simple, but eye-catching banner to your scrapbook page, card, or even a fun home decor project!we-r-memory-keepers-fuseables-scrapbook-layout

It’s really fun to fuse photo pockets around die cut shapes and cards you make with We R Memory Keepers paper.

Disclaimer: This is not my project I got it from the We R Memory Keepers Blog, but look how adorable this page is! Made with the FUSE tool and FUSEables products of course! Check out their blog for more inspiration using these products and I promise I will be making and sharing with you soon! My very own FUSEables projects are just around the corner. Be sure to check back soon.

Anna’s Christmas Cards & Embellishments Cartridge Ideas

by Richelle Naeglecard made with anna's christmas cards and embellishments cartridge

Are you as excited as I am? Anna Griffin has come out with yet another fun Christmas cards cartridge, last year it was the Christmas Kitsch that was so popular (rightfully so, it had lots of fun images on it). This year it’s Anna’s Christmas Cards and Embellishments cartridge which features more of an elegant look. When paired with gold and silver colored paper, you can create an elegant card, scrapbook layout, and more.

I created this fun card using the fancy bells card and icon. There are lots of great card images that you can create using this same idea. For example, you could make snowflakes, bows, holly swirls, ornaments, poinsettias, etc.

This Cricut cartridge is also great to use with the drawing feature from the Explore Air system. There are a variety of creative images that you will allow you to add delightful designs to your card, as well has themed holiday sentiments, such as “Peace on Earth”, “Season’s Greetings”, “Wishing You a Merry Christmas”, and so many more. Cricut makes holiday scrapbooking so much fun.

Anna’s Christmas cards & Embellishments Cricut cartridge ideas keep running though my head (and sugar plums). My mind is racing thinking of all the fun projects I want to make! When you get your cartridge, please share all your fun creations with me on our Google + paper crafting fanatics page, or even on Facebook. I can’t wait to see what you make!

We have a huge selection of all kinds of Cricut products and you will definitely want to check out our Christmas Cricut cartridges. If you don’t find what you are looking for, please feel free to contact us.
