Disney Frozen Cricut Cartridge Ideas

anna cardby Richelle Naegle

I know this cartridge has been long awaited, for those of us who prefer to work with physical cartridges vs using digital files. I figure they are the same price, but I want to have that physical cartridge so I can have a booklet (it makes it easy to see each of the cuts and to determine how to put the layers together). Disney Cricut cartridges have especially small cuts, so the booklet is a must have, in my opinion.

So I finally got my Disney Frozen cartridge< after waiting what felt like a very long time. I couldn't wait to use it, it was calling my name. 🙂 So I got right to designing multiple card projects. Just one card wouldn't do, in this case. I then got carried away and even made a layout for my scrapbook. Here are all the fun details for these three projects:

Frozen Card IdeasPabbie card from Cricut Frozen Cricut cartridge

The first card I wanted to make was with Elsa and I cut her out at 6.25″.  The phrase “A friend is someone who reaches for your hand, and touches your heart.” is from the Anna Griffin Garden Cards and Embellishments cartridge. I just had the Cricut Explore draw it on a 5″ x 7″ card. The second card has Pabbie on it. The phrase was also drawn on the card using the the Cricut Explore. The drawing is one of my favorite features of this machine, and even with these small intricate cuts you find in the Disney cartridges, you get precise cuts every time.

Expert Tip: If your cuts are not as crisp as they should be, try checking/changing your German carbide blade first. Thick, quality patterned scrapbook paper tends to dull blades quickly, and changing the blade can usually help. If that’s not the problem, I suggest you use a new StandardGrip 12×12 cutting mat. Sometimes on those small cuts it’s best to use a new one that is free of imperfections like paper fibers or small dents/cuts.

Frozen Scrapbook LayoutOlaf layout made with Frozen Cricut cartridge

This layout was a little more work than usual, but I absolutely love how it turned out so it was well worth the extra time. This extra time wasn’t spent gluing or designing it was spent letting the machine draw the snowflakes – so my tip for this one is to start it drawing and do something else, grab lunch, do the dishes clean the bathroom, etc. Or just relax, but just know that it’s going to take some time. So that’s where I started with this layout, is I wanted to use the Explore to draw the background on my paper. I used a white 12″ x 12″ sheet of cardstock and the Blue Bonnet pen from the Wildflower pen set and let my machine draw the snowflakes in the background. Tip: You will need to link the snowflakes together so that they stay where you lay them out on your page. I love using American Crafts cardstock for my projects. Try Pebbles or world-famous We R Memory Keepers paper.

Olaf is cut out at 7.5″ and “Always up for an adventure” was cut out at 2.5″ with 2 spots for 4″ x 6″ photo’s. This layout really was simple just a little time consuming. I really do love how it turned out, and I have so many more ideas of projects I can make with this cartridge including using the printable iron on sheets to make my own custom t-shirts. I hope you have enjoyed these Frozen Cricut cartridge ideas. I would love to see what you have created with this cartridge post a picture on our Google + paper crafting fanatics page or on Facebook.

Anna’s Decorative Monograms Cricut Cartridge Ideas

by Richelle NaegleAnna Griffin Decorative Monogram Cricut Cartridge home decor idea.

I love Anna Griffin designs! Have I mentioned that before. 🙂 Today we have another NEW Cricut cartridge that was just released – that makes three for this month and it’s not over yet! Did you know that the Cricut Explore Air 2 cuts twice as fast?

The latest release is Anna’s Decorative Monograms cartridge, which as the name suggests, is all about the monograms. It has three different monogram styles so that you have a variety of options. I wanted to make a fun home decor project and my thought was what’s better than making a new pillow for my family room?

The right heat transfer material can make all the difference, so be sure you choose a quality product. This is a smaller pillow and the “R” is cut out at 7″.

Iron-On Tips:

  • Always flip your image so that it’s backwards, other wise you wont be able to read it.
  • I use the CGull pick tool to easily remove the excess material. This is my favorite and most used tool from this set.
  • Iron your material first to make sure you don’t have wrinkles, this also warms up your material making it easier for the Cricut Iron-on or Silhouette heat transfer to adhere to your fabric.
  • Make sure you iron all the edges to insure that it sticks well.
  • You can tell when the material has released from the backing. When you look at it you will notice that the material is not as bright. It’s because it has released.
  • Give the carrier sheet about 20 seconds to cool down before peeling it back. Saves getting your fingers burned and also allows that extra heat to set the iron-on material.
  • Slowly peel the carrier sheet away at an angel.

I hope you have enjoyed this and the other Anna Griffin project this month. I have one more planned for the end of the month. Be sure to check out our other Cricut Font cartridges.

Flourish Cards & Embellishments Cricut Cartridge Ideas

by Richelle NaegleAnna's Flourish Cards and Embellishments card idea

As I promised, here is a fun card I made using the new Anna’s Flourish Cards and Embellishments Cricut cartridge.

If you love to make cards then this cartridge is perfect for you! It has so many unique and creative options. The one great feature about this cartridge that I really like is the fact that you can create intricate detail and then add some fun coordinating embellishments to give your card a little more dimension (or just leave it the one layer and you still have a patterned cardstock card with interesting detail).

This card is 5″ x 7″ and the two embellishments on the top are 4″ for the larger one and 2.5″ for the smaller one. I used craft foam squares to add some dimension to the card. This card took about 15 minutes and most of that was waiting for the Cricut Explore to cut it out. But I love how precise the cut is and how beautiful the design turned out. This is now one of my favorite Cricut cartridges for creating a quick yet elegant card.

Have you had a chance to try the Anna’s Flourish Cards & Embellishments Cricut Cartridge? Ideas are always a great way to inspire others, so get some cards made and share them with us on Facebook! I can’t wait to see what you have created. PS Check back tomorrow for another Anna Griffin project made using another NEW Anna Griffin cartridge. Anna’s Garden Cards & Embellishments Cartridge Ideas

by Richelle Naeglecard made with Anna's Garden Cards and Embellishments

I don’t know about you, but I really love Anna Griffin designs. I love her artwork and what she draws. If you are a fan of Anna Griffin like me, then you will be super happy this month. Today is the first two of Anna Griffin cartridges being released this month, and both of these cartridges have some super beautiful images on them. Save on both cartridges with our exclusive Anna’s Cards cartridge bundle that includes a 3-piece tool kit.

Cricut included everything really you would expect from an Anna Griffin cartridge. They both also have some great phrases included with them, so if you have the Cricut Explore machine you can have it write them out. Honestly this is my favorite feature of Explore machines. I don’t like to write on my cards, I want it to look neat and professional. Stamps often just don’t say enough, so I really enjoy the fact that my Cricut machine will write it for me.

So for all the details of this card. When I was looking at Anna’s Garden Cards & Embellishments Cricut cartridge, I kept thinking I just want to have the machine draw the image on it. With the black pen set I used the Explore to draw my images. You will want to attach your image to a patterned cardstock rectangle. Mine was 4.25″ x 5.5″ so that I have enough room to control where the image sits on the card.Anna Griffin Flower Card before filling in colors

Then I just used my markers and pencils to color in the image to make it fun and colorful. It really didn’t take much time and I love how it turned out. It looks like the image was drawn by hand, giving the card that little something extra – simultaneously professional but hand-made.

Introducing the New Silhouette Mint Machine (2015)

by Richelle Naegle

Create beautiful cards with the Silhouette Mint MachineComing soon in 2015: new Silhouette Mint stamp making machines and accessories

I’m the kind of person that likes to design and make my own cards/invitations to give to friends, family, and to sell at local craft shows. Though it is something that I enjoy and I feel is something that I am good at, there are many things that can make it a time-consuming and messy hobby! So whenever new Silhouette product is released, I get really excited because I know it will make crafting easier and unleash new potential. That’s exactly the case with the Silhouette Mint machine, which will be coming out soon (Fall of 2015).

This product excites me, not only because it reduces the mess that comes with stamping, but because it offers many other solutions for stampers.

What is the Silhouette Mint Machine?Silhouette Mint Machine

First things first; what is the new Silhouette Mint Machine?

It is a machine that allows you to customize the words, pictures, and designs you want to stamp on invitations, cards, and other crafting projects. Using a special “thermal printing” technology, the Mint allows you to create your own custom designs on scrapbook paper and other craft material. After your stamp has been made, simply add ink to it and stamp up to 50 times before you need to reapply more ink! And with the ability to use more than one ink, you can turn your stamp into a multicolored creation! Instead of a rubber pad, this machine uses stamp sheets that absorb the ink so you can stamp to your heart’s content!
