Spring Cricut Project Idea – Rainy Day Layout

by Richelle Naegle

Spring Scrapbook Layout

“Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain.” – Unknown

I love this quote and it’s partly what inspired this spring Cricut project idea. We live by this quote at my house. It’s basically a party when it rains (we live in the high desert) and we play outside. We don’t even get dressed up in boots and raincoats, we just go for it. We’ve even been known to go without our shoes. We are just there to play in the rain, splash in the puddles, and enjoy the day!

So, with all that in mind, you can imagine I make a lot of rainy day scrapbook pages. Good thing Cricut makes it easy to come up with great themed designs. I got really creative with this project.

This layout is made with a variety of different Cricut cartridges. The cute animals are from one of the most popular cartridges of all time, the Create A Critter cartridge. And I’m talking the original, but both give you fun options so I recommend including both in your personal library. The umbrellas are from the Disney Pooh and Friends cartridge, Photo Booth Props cartridge, and the Forever Young cartridge. Rainy Day phrase is from When I was a Kid cartridge, and so are the picture frames. The hat on the turtle is from the Create a Friend cartridge (he originally had a Halloween hat on but a rain hat seemed to fit so much better). For this layout I also used the Splendid Sunshine Paper Collection Kit from Echo Park! made this layout super easy to coordinate because the paper all matches so well.

In all, this layout was pretty easy, but it was very time consuming. I love how it turned out, so now we just need to wait for the rain so I can get more pictures! I would love to see some of the scrapbook layouts that you have created! Share them on our Google+ Paper Crafting Fanatics page, or share them on Facebook. I can’t wait to see all the fun scrapbook pages you have created.

Victorian Frame Card – Sizzix Bigz Project

by Richelle Naegle
Victorian Frame Card
Here is one of the easiest cards I think I have ever made, and I had a lot of fun, so you can’t really beat that! I have made some pretty simple cards in past, mostly because I just don’t have a lot of extra time (I’m sure you can relate), so when I find a cute card that doesn’t take much time or effort, but looks amazing when it’s done, I am all for it!

For this Sizzix card I used the Victorian Frame Bigz XL Die by one of the great designers, Brenda Walton.

On a side note: I got to meet Brenda at the CHA show in California this year and she truly makes some beautiful things and I am going to definitely use more of her products. I’m a fan : )

Back to business: this card is about 4.25″ x 5.5″ when it’s finished and is super easy to cut out with the Big Shot embosser/die-cutter. The frame part of this card folds back where the opening is, so that you can insert a picture into it. Though I just used this cupid figure in my frame, if you’re planning on giving it to a friend, put a picture of the 2 of you in there. It would make a great, personalized Birthday card and would mean a lot to them. If you are looking for a great paper brand, try American Crafts cardstock.

For my card I also added a heart and some ribbon as well as a little banner. Don’t forget you will also need four brads for this project so you can hold back the openings (so you can see the picture), and the brads also give the card some dimension.

Take advantage of our great prices on Sizzix accessories and don’t forget about our huge selection of Sizzix dies.

Have you created anything of Brenda Walton’s? I would love to see what you have made using her products, so please share them with me on our Paper Crafting Fanatics Google + Page, or share them with us on our Facebook page.
