This isn’t my first first Create a Critter 2 project, but it’s such a great cartridge, it’s time to showcase it again. It is one of the most popular products ever released by Provo Craft and a glance at its selection of images will tell you why.
For this card, I wanted to make something quick and easy, so if you were making cards for a child’s class you could replicate this without a ton of work. You can also take this simple project to the next level by adding extras, like maybe ribbon and faux stitching. With the Create A Critter 2 Cricut cartridge, ideas for Valentine’s day are plentiful. If you don’t already have the cartridge, it’s on sale at always low prices here at CraftDirect.com.
This cartridge has lots of fun images, especially critters, that you could easily create for this romantic holiday. The Cricut Explore Air 2 will make your project easier and much faster.
The overall size of this card is 4.25″ x 4.25″ and the owl was cut out at 4.25″ along with all her fun layers. Try our big family of American Craft paper brands. We carry all the most popular ones, like Pebbles or Pink Paislee.
This great Cricut design has been out for quite sometime now, so I’m sure a lot of you have made some great projects with it. I don’t know about you but I go though more Birthday cards in a year than anything else. Between cards for my friends, family, and my kids’ friends, it seems like I am always making a Birthday card. Today I wanted to make a fun one for a great friend; something she would appreciate a lot…so I put special effort into it. Equipped with the Sweet Treats Cricut cartridge, my imagination, and the my friend as inspiration here is what I came up with:
I used the Sizzix Basic Step Up Card set to cut out the base of the card as well as a couple of the steps to give the card a little layering and variety. All the paper is from the same Hip Hip Hooray Paper stack (by We R Memory Keepers), making it super easy to coordinate paper colors quickly and easily. All of the images were cut out from the Sweet Treats Cricut cartridge, using the following sizes for each of the elements:
- the Cake is patterned cardstock cut out at 3.5″ the party hat at at 1.75″
- the candles at 2″
- “may all your wishes come true” is cut out at 1.25″
I added a little bit of ribbon and a little bit of faux stitching around the edges. Remember to save on our huge selection of Sizzix dies. One of our most popular collections is Tim Holtz Crazy. If you don’t have a machine that uses dies, you should check out our selection of Sizzix machines.
This card looks like it took a lot of time, but including planning and sizing it only took about an hour total, so it wasn’t all that much time for such a fun 3D card.
Show off your Cricut projects and Sizzix creations. Have you made some Step Up Cards, or used the Cricut Sweet Treats? Ideas are always welcome please share them with us on our Paper Crafting Fanatics Google+ Page, or even on Facebook. I can’t wait to see what you have created.
by Richelle NaegleIt’s been awhile since I have had a chance to make a scrapbook layout, which is sad because scrapbooking really is my paper crafting passion. I really should scrapbook more! For this layout I used the New Bits and Pieces Cricut cartridge. This cartridge has a lot of great simple images, making it ideal for layouts. Especially when you think about how much time goes into a layout. I have spent 3+ hours on one layout, so the ability to make something this adorable this quickly is great for me. Check out our latest prices on the Cricut Explore Air.
- The filmstrip banner is patterned cardstock cut 4” wide and I made it about 11.5” tall.
- The hot air balloons are 3.50” and 4.75”.
- The clouds at 1.25” 1.5”, 1.75” and 2”
- The banner is 1.70”.
- And each of the picture spots are for a 4” x 6” photo and the large one on the first page is for a 5” x 7” photo.
The Hot Air Balloon Text is from Nifty Fifties Cricut cartridge.
This layout was actually pretty simple but I think it turned out super cute, I can’t wait to get my picture in place. Of course, the Explore electronic cutter made it all so easy.
